A chapter member in a Benedictine monastery is typically a monk who has taken solemn vows and is fully committed to the monastic life. They participate in the daily rhythm of prayer, work, and study within the monastery, and they also have a role in the governance and decision-making processes of the community. Chapter members gather regularly in a meeting called the chapter, where they discuss important matters related to the monastery and make decisions that affect the community as a whole.
